The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Minister for Transport and Logistics Services, His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser AI-Jasser met with the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) on the 2nd of November 2023. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) Mr. Laurent Parenté.
The meeting covered aspects such as the changing of the IMSO through the introduction of GMDSS. The IMSO praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its efforts in in implementing five SIDS into the Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) environment. This was immensely beneficial to the goal of bring safer satellite navigational technology to developing countries.
The Kingdom expressed its intentions to focus on collaborating with other countries within the IMO to develop a sustainable and profitable maritime sector. They discussed the potential enhancement of the LRIT Data Centre and developed several pathways to maximising its efficiency. The safety and security of seafarers is one of the key focus areas the Kingdom is working towards within the IMO.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to building the maritime industry into a safe and sustainable, sector through its collaboration and ongoing work with IMSO.
